Justo cuando comienzan a bajar las temperaturas en Estados Unidos nada como un bronceado natural en las canchas de fútbol de Puerto Rico...

Mañana jueves en la noche arriba a Mayagüez la cotizada futbolista Haley Helverson, quien regresa por 2do año consecutivo como refuerzo del Puerto Rico Sol de la LigaPR de Fútbol Superior Femenino.

Helverson, Defensa Central, tuvo una dominante temporada inaugural el año pasado, siendo considerada por muchos como la mejor en su posición en toda la liga.

"I am ready to hit the ground running!! It has been a long off-season but I’m so excited to play for PR Sol again," expresó Haley a QuePalo.com

"The vision they have for this club, growing the women’s game and the opportunities we get are great and I’m glad I was asked to be apart of it for a second season."

En mayo pasado, PR Sol se proclamó campeón de la 1ra temporada de la LigaPR al vencer a Metropolitan FA en la final, celebrada en el estadio Juan Ramón Loubriel en Bayamón. Desde entonces Haley ha estado en etapa de descanso, recuperación y luego de nuevo a la carga en cancha, pista y gimnasio.

"I took some time off to spend with family and friends while letting my body heal after a long season. But then got into a workout regime and rhythm with local clubs and gyms back home to keep myself in shape, and get some touches on the ball," relató Helverson, cuyo padre es árbitro de football en la NFL.

Al estar en su segundo año jugando en la Isla, Haley será elegible para representar a Puerto Rico en futuras convocatorias nacionales. ¿Estaría interesada y disponible ella para reforzar la línea zaguera de NuestraSelePR?

"Of course I am !!! It would be amazing to get national team experience. However, I know how political and difficult it is to make the cut, so I don’t want to get my hopes up, but I would definitely be humbled by the opportunity," reflexionó la ex futbolista y estudiante NCAA de la Universidad de Minnesota.

La LigaPR arranca este fin de semana, sinembargo, el Sol se estrena en la 2da fecha del torneo.
