"A well organized, disciplined, difficult - to - play - against team is the platform for attractive / winning fútbol...

All players need to work together to achieve a common goal and we've got to be a very strong unit both, when we're defending and attacking...

For me, the strikers are the catalyst when we're defending, and defenders have a key part in our attacking build-up...

In possession, every player must know the movement patterns, the rotation, the fluidity and positioning of all teammates. Each player must know where she has to be, who she has to beat, when and where to support her teammates and that is why there needs to be collective understanding and absolute discipline".

SUS 'ROLE MODELS'

"I really admired three coches from afar:

Guy Roux, from Auxerre, for his longevity and loyalty to one club and development of players. He took Auxerre from regional league to Champions League...

Valeriy Lobanovskyi, Dynamo Kiev, for scientific and disciplined approach to management...

Vicente del Bosque, for his success with Madrid and Spain".

FÚTBOL ATRACTIVO

"Attractive futbol is organized - futbol, played with smiles on faces, and joy in hearts. So the objective for me in Puerto Rico is to be realistic and know what we are able to do and what we are not able to do...

Attractive futbol is when you can be strong at the back and score goals up front. It's when you can play well and remain disciplined...

We are slowly getting there with Puerto Rico now, because the younger players are quickly improving technically and tactically and they are enjoying their futbol".

FORTALEZAS DE LA U-20 PUR

"We are creative in midfield with players like Alexandra Filipkowski and Chloe Laureano...

We are strong technically; and we have a strong mindset with discipline, determination, never giving up. For us the game isn't over at the 90th minute. We have experienced players, such as Mirianee Zaragoza and Adriana Font at the back. This is quite a complete team and I am happy with it".

IMPRESIÓN SOBRE EL TEAM-PUR

"I strongly believe that Puerto Rico can be number 1 in the CFU. There is hunger for success, determination, leadership. Players like Laura [Suarez] and Karina [Socarras] are driven, and want to become top 4 in CONCACAF...

We have talented, promising youngsters such as María José Cancio (U-15), Kamila Rolón (U-15), María Luísa Colón (U-17), Chloe Laureano (U-17), Cristina Torres (U-20), Mirianee Zaragoza (U-20) and many, many others...

I believe that Puerto Rico is ready to move forward, and our trip to Dominican Republic (19-23 July) can be the beginning of something historical".

CULTURA DE EQUIPO

"Anytime a new coach arrives, he arrives with his ideas and philosophies. Sometimes it is not easy to improve things, and sometimes players embrace it. Right now we are changing the mindset, culture, expectations, and hopefully performances and results...

We are no longer of the mindset that we want to do well in the CFU competitions, we now want to do well in the CONCACAF competitions and beyond...

The players are really embracing my way and I'm confident it will produce positive results soon".

METAS A LARGO PLAZO

"From U-15's to Senior team, I have many very good players. I believe that this group of 14-24 year olds can be Puerto Rico's golden generation achieving what never before has been achieved...

Our goals are high, our focus is sharp and everyone is working very hard on producing performances and results. In football there are no guarantees but I am cautiously optimistic".

METAS y RETOS

"Short term, there really are two big challenges ahead of us:

One, we need to develop better players who understand what space to occupy during different phases of the game. Players who understand individual and collective movements, and timing of those movements. In futbol there is a distinct difference between running and movement...

We now produce players with good futbol mechanics, but who do not understand positioning, positional responsibilities, movement, and how to compete...

Two, we must play more international friendlies. We can’t simply travel to competitions without any experience. This is our biggest challenge. I would like to be able to play at least 4 international friendlies with all four teams [U-15, U-17, U-20 and Superior]. That would speed up the development process of our teams".
