FUTBOL FEMENINO

How long have you been living in Puerto Rico?
»» LINDSEY BAUER, St. Petersburg, Florida ««
"I moved to the island 5 years ago to work with young adults at a transitional living program. When I first moved here I played briefly with Aguilas de Añasco but could not pursue as I had started a new job and wanted to focus on that."
<> JESSICA RAGNIO, Boston, Massachusetts <>
"I lived in PR for about a year, a few years back. Then moved back to Boston for work. I just moved back to Rincón a few months ago."

Tell me about your soccer, back in the States.

"I started playing soccer at age 8. I went on to play competitively and was on an athletic scholarship at Florida Memorial University where I played 4 years at a collegiate level (NAIA) and had the honor of being one of the captains...
My college soccer was very internationally focused. I played with girls from Brazil, Iceland, Canada, Mexico, Haiti, Finland, Cuba, and so on...
My Freshman year of college I played with Marthaliz Taboas who was on the national team for Puerto Rico. I knew I’d love this island from the pride she had for her home."
<> JESSICA RAGNIO <>
"I grew up playing soccer. it was basically my life. In high school I played on different club and select teams in Massachusetts. I didn't get to play as much in college though as I played Division 2 Lacrosse...
Since college I've played in women's and coed leagues around the Boston area...
I'm really excited to get to play with Mayaguez SC and have competitive soccer be a part of my life again. The girls on the team are all so nice, fun and hard working. It's a great group to be a part of."

What do you do for a living in Rincón?
»» LINDSEY BAUER ««
"I have a BS in Social Work and Psychology. As I mentioned, I work at a transformational living program for young adults. I also recently started doing work in the paralegal realm..
I tried surfing when I moved to Puerto Rico. I had never surfed before but it has now become one of my favorite hobbies. My partner is a surf coach at the Rincon Surf School. He has been my biggest motivator and pushed me to new limits out in the water"
<> JESSICA RAGNIO <>
"I have my Master's degree in Clinical Social Work. In Boston I worked on inpatient psychiatry units for children and adults. Now I work remotely for a biofeedback company that makes video games for children who have Autism, ADHD, anxiety, or anger issues. The games help kids learn emotional regulation by teaching them how to control their heart rates."

How long since you girls met each other, and coach Juan Sánchez?
»» LINDSEY BAUER ««
"I met Jess just a few weeks ago at pick up soccer on Wednesday nights. The night I met her was the same night Juan invited us to practice with Puerto Rico Sol. She and I have been driving together to practices in Mayaguez. Ironically, she and I have a lot in common. We are both thrilled for this opportunity to play with some of the most talented women on the island."
<> JESSICA RAGNIO <>
"I met coach Juan just in the past few months playing pickup soccer in Rincon. There's a big group that gets together on Wednesday nights to play. He's a smart player and it's great to be on the field with him."
