El 29no duelo entre las hermanas Williams concluyó en un triunfo de la mayor, Venus, 6-3 y 6-4 sobre Serena. Este resultado le da el pase a 4ta ronda a Venus, y le permitió a Serena seguir saboreando del tenis de máximo nivel mundial tras su regreso a cancha post maternidad. La próxima oponente de Venus será Anastasija Sevastova, de Letonia.

Fue la primera vez, desde 2014, que sale airosa Venus en el Clásico de las Williams . Serena sigue dominando estos duelos, tras 29 ocasiones, 17 - 12.
