How big is this new experience of being in college soccer?

IDELYS VÁZQUEZ, Pre Selección U-20 NuestraSelePR

"Playing in the collegiate level here at VCU has been such a wonderful experience so far. It's been a dream come true, and exactly what I thought it would be...

We started training with our team captains July 16th and since then has been nonstop getting ready for our season. For the past few weeks I have been training everyday, working on our team bonding and exploring everything that VCU has to offer. Our first Official training was Aug 1st where I had my first fitness test and challenge. All the teammates were very encouraging and kept us motivated to pass with high scores. I was able to pass the beep test and earned my uniform, soccer gear and my own locker .I know that all my hard work has paid off, I am a VCU Women Soccer player...

On Aug 7 was our first exhibition game against East Carolina University (ECU). I was excited and nervous but ready to play my first Collegiate game. We ended the game with a 3-2 win. Our 2nd game was against Virginia Military Institude (VMI). We finished with a 3-0 win. I was able to scored my first 2 collegiate goals and it was a great feeling. All my teammates congratulated me and the coach selected me as the player of the match."

What can you tell me about your summer training with the Puerto Rico Sol?

IDELYS VÁZQUEZ

"I am grateful that coach Shek (Borkowski) and Puerto Rico Sol gave me the opportunity to train with them while I was on vacation...

Training with Puerto Rico Sol helped me stay in shape and active during the summer. The practices were intense, the coaching staff was experienced and helpful, and the teammates were very talented. I'm very excited that Puerto Rico Sol are bringing great opportunities for the future of women soccer in the island. Puerto Rico has a lot of talent and will have a great success. I can't wait to go back!"
